Services Offered

Prenatal Care

• Free initial consultation visit

• Individualized 1-hour visits; offering lab tests, nutritional counseling, physical assessment, and time to get to know one another

• Free confidential pregnancy tests and counseling

• Encouragement of partners and family members at visits

• 24-hour on-call paging system

• Recognition of deviations from normal and appropriate medical consultation/referral

• 36-37 home visit at your home or at the Birth Center (depending upon your intended site for birth)

• Local resource network including birth education classes, local pediatricians, naturopathic physicians, doula services, acupuncture, massage and much more

Labor and Birth

• Your choice of birth center or home birth services from 37 weeks to 42 weeks of pregnancy

• Round-the-clock availability by midwife

• Continuous labor support and monitoring of mother and baby at all times

• Labor tubs and other methods of natural pain relief

• Qualified birth assistant or second midwife to assist during birth

• Medical consultation/transport when deviations from normal occur

Postpartum

• Continuous care and support by midwife in immediate postpartum period (2-6 hours after birth), either at your home or extended stay at the birth center

• 24-hour breastfeeding and recovery support in your home

• Complete newborn exam after birth

• Numerous home visits offered so new parents don’t have to leave home

• Appropriate newborn tests offered

• 6-week follow-up to offer well-women care such as breast exams, pap smears and family planning options
